Analysis of the album “Meus caros amigos” as a hypergenre

This article’s objective is to present an analysis of Chico Buarque's album Meus caros amigos, released in 1976, understanding it as a hypergenre, that is, the project of saying carried out in the album is imbricated in its relationship with each of the genres that comprise it. To this end, we sought theoretical grounding in Bakhtinian dialogism for the concept of discourse genre and authorship, seeking to dialog with the notion of hypergenre. To analyze the songs, we used the Tetragram of multisemiotic song analysis proposed by the Grupo de Estudos da Canção (GECAN) as a methodological resource. It was observed that the project of saying expresses a unity of meaning linked to the set of genres featured in the album (hypergenre). Many of the songs from Meus caros amigos were part of the soundtrack of films and plays, and reflect 1970s Brazil; however, their themes are still very much present today.
