Abstract

The intensity with which contemporary migration processes have been developing has impacted several countries, including Brazil, which in recent years has welcomed a large number of people from different locations, mainly from neighboring countries. This article focuses on the Venezuelan migratory context in Paraíba and the experience of a group of refugees in the capital of Paraíba. Its presence in the city is analyzed with regard to traditional indicators of urban studies, with emphasis on housing and work. In the midst of a scenario of neoliberalism and accelerated globalization, the idea of provisionality and shared precariousness was used in order to give visibility not only to the living conditions and territorial dynamics generated, but to open possibilities for discussion about the reality experienced by migrants and refugees in Brazil, especially in central-regional cities such as João Pessoa.
