Transparency and accountability in health regulation in Brazil

The present article has the purpose of analyzing the evolution of the operation of the Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency, concerning to the use of accountability mechanisms, public transparency and citizens participation in its decisions. Ten years after the creation of this agency there are many expectations about its institutional empowerment. This article intends to collaborate with the debate on the sanitary regulation in Brazil, focusing the strategies of consolidation of the democratic administration in this area.Downloads
