About bugs from 3.5 version of Open Journal System
27-02-2026
At the beginning of 2026, an update in Open Journal System was made to version 3.5. Alterjor Journal make publig the following bugs addressing the OJS 3.5:
- An icon of locked content is wrongly displayed next to PDF label althoug all contents remain in Open Access. How to solve: click on the "locked" PDF and the file will start downloading without any requirement (the access remais open after all);
- PDF files returns a blank page. Causes: the plugin PDF.js on OJS 3.5 had its legacy render deprecated to the new modern browser version and is incompatible with older browsers versions. How to solve: Please do upgrade your internet browser to the minimum compatible versions: Chrome/Chromium/Brave/Edge (from 120.0) or Firefox (from 120.0). The web browsers PaleMoon and Firefox ESR 115 (compatible with Windows 7, Mac High Sierra and Debian Buster) do not support properly the PDF.js plugin (modern version) as the legacy components were phased out by the developers of Open Journal System. For older computers, we do recommend to install the latest version of Supermium browser (based on Chromium) with LTS support and compatible with Windows 7 or the latest version of Firefox browser for Windows 7. Both are compatible with Windows 8 and can be used in another operating system by using Wine on Mac or Linux.
When the corrected or patched version will be installed here, the locker icon shown on all Open Access files will not appear.
