• About the version 3.5 of Open Journal Systems

  At the beginning of 2026, an update from version 3.4 to 3.5 of the Open Journal System was managed. We warn all readers about the following bugs (software errors) found in OJS 3.5:

  • The inclusion of the ORCID identity must only be done by authenticated (login) session. It is no longer possible to just type in the ORCID address to have the entry linked. The session must be authenticated with the ORCID login so that the ORCID profile is associated with the author's metadata. In the case of co-authors, the login access is required for all authors. We emphasize that the ORCID link is accepted as proof of authorship in the curricular proof of texts and once the DOI records are registered when there is linked ORCID, the update will occur automatically in the ORCID entry belonging to the authors who authenticated the entry in Journal Alterjor.
  • The complete archive of Journal Alterjor displays a locker icon, although the journal REMAINS AT OPEN ACCESS. Resolution: ignore the display of the locker icon and do click on the PDF button, without the need for registration or registration. The full version file will open normally by the embedded plugin PDF.js viewer to read the contents on the screen or download the file locally WITHOUT ANY RESTRICTION.
  • PDFs return a blank page: an issue with the OJS 3.5 PDF.js plugin not properly loading the content. Cause: PDF.js plugin legacy version was phased out in favor of the modern browser version. Solution: update the web browser to the minimally compatible versions: Chrome/Chromium/Brave/Edge (from 120.0) or Firefox (from 120.0). PaleMoon and Firefox ESR 115 browsers (compatible with Windows 7, Mac High Sierra and Debian Buster) do not support PDF.js (modern version) and the legacy version of the plugin has been phased out by the Open Journal Systems developers. You can check the PDF.js plugin test from these links: PDF.js Legacy and PDF.js Modern (used in this version of Open Journal Systems). Both links are on and the PDF contents must be loaded. If in any of the tests, the text file is not displayed (blank screen), the function of viewing PDF files will not work with your browser. It is recommended to update it to the latest version or use special versions of browsers developed for unsupported operating systems, such as those suggested below:
    
    
  • If you are not able to update, the following instructions are directed to older computers, it is recommended to install the latest version of the Supermium browser (based on Chromium), with LTS support (compatible with Windows 7) or the latest version of the Firefox browser for Windows 7. Both are compatible with Windows 8(.1) and can be used on other legacy operating systems using Wine on Mac or Linux.
