This article has the purpose of discussing the transformations affecting theater in the 1960s from the perspective of Teatro Experimental do Sesc AM, most commonly known as Tesc (1968-2003), reflecting the beginning of great contributions on the artistic scenario in Manaus. Their first pieces show the practice of an experimental avant-guard work of resistance, structuring the theatrical modernization in the Amazonas. The bibliography covers important authors of the Northern theatrical scene such as Selda Vale, Ediney Azancoth and Márcio Souza.
