“Nora”: uma pequena tradução entre o Liffey

Abstract

In this article, we seek to translate the first chapter of the novel Nora, by Irish author Nuala O’Connor. The novel weaves its biographical narrative of Nora Barnacle using fiction and nonfiction devices to chronicle the life of James Joyce’s wife and muse. Before that, I explain a little about the decision to translate this book and this specific excerpt using as a theoretical basis the translation writings of Dirce Waltrick do Amarante on what constitutes a translation. At the end of the work, we explain a little more about the reasons why we believe that this text represents an important paradigm shift in the culture of Joycean studies around the world.
