A critic's preferences. On some assumptions from Leo Spitzer's method.

This text seeks to raise some questions regarding Leo Spitzer's method. The work begins by investigating the emphasis that the critic gives to the personal preferences of the reader who sets out to analyze a text. It then seeks to articulate this importance with the Romanist's peculiar way of understanding the artistic unity of the literary work, and finally, it asks whether this way is related to an approach specific to the Romanist tradition.
