Ganga-Zumbi is a work that analyzes, from a historic, semiotic, rhythmic and harmonic perspective, the contemporary Minas Gerais song Ganga-Zumbi. This song - composed by Sérgio Santos and Paulo César
Pinheiro - highlights an archetype of Brazilian culture in a synthesis that brings in itself many rhythmic, ritualistic and song elements, telling the story of one of its historical characters, Zumbi dos Palmares. We delimit “contemporary” in a time lapse that extends to the last twenty years, and “mineiro”, to an object centered on its capital, which – in a certain way – represents the identity and production axes of the state.
