Abstract

The Agência Mural de Jornalismo das Periferias celebrates its 10th anniversary in November 2020. Maintained by communicators who live or have lived in the peripheries of the São Paulo metropolitan region, this journalistic organization works with the idea of ​​breaking stereotypes about peripheries, resignifying and creating identification between residents and their territories, in addition to covering information gaps about these regions. All through good journalism. In this report, I will discuss the history of this journalistic medium, of which I am the current editor-in-chief of journalism, and the advancement of communication on the peripheries throughout this decade, as well as the perspectives and next steps towards the importance of this coverage for democracy.

  • Paulo Talarico, University of São Paulo

    Editor-chefe de jornalismo e cofundador da Agência Mural de Jornalismo das Periferias. Faz parte da Mural desde 2011 quando começou como correspondente de Osasco. Formado em jornalismo pela Universidade São Judas Tadeu, tem pós-graduação em jornalismo esportivo pelo Ipog (Instituto de Pós-Graduação) e curso técnico de locução para rádio e TV pela Rádio Oficina. Atualmente, estuda História na Universidade de São Paulo
