The TV show Profissão Repórter is known for presenting, in its narratives, the contradictory and the diversity of perspectives. However, from a more detailed reading, it’s possible to perceive that, even with the different premise, the show sticks to common sense in the context of fatphobia. The fact was observed in the edition of June 14, 2022, whose topic was bariatric surgery. Since fatphobia has been identified as a research problem in the field of Communication, as well as a difficulty in journalistic coverage, this article investigates gaps left by the reporting team responsible for the episode in question, which could have been used as possibilities for destigmatizing fat people. The methodology is based on content analysis and literature review.
