Abstract

The article reflects on alternative communication and alternative and anti-racist journalism, through the analysis of the editorials and agendas of the news agency Alma Preta, focused on racial themes. Faced with constant journalistic transformations and new informational practices, alternative media outlets revive the concept of alternative communication from the 1960s and 1970s, as an option to the hegemonic media. The Alma Preta website takes on this role by addressing topics such as racial, gender and human rights issues. The text presents a theoretical discussion based on authors such as Peruzzo (2006, 2008, 2009), Oliveira (2009) and Felix, Fragoso and Costa (2017). Furthermore, it seeks to understand the principles of alternative and anti-racist journalistic activity by exploring the characteristics and purposes of Alma Preta.
