This article examines the environmental journalism produced by the Sumaúma platform, a digital-native journal that defines itself as independent and, at the same time, “with a side, in defense of the forest”, with coverage focused on environmental issues primarily involving the Amazon region. In addition to reviewing interviews with the platform's founder, journalist Eliane Brum, eight publications published in the Reports section throughout 2024 are analyzed to map common themes, sources, and formats, and to relate the elements of journalism listed by Bill Kovach and Tom Rosenstiel to the work produced by Sumaúma.
