This book review of Totalitarian Culture: Human Sociability in Question, by Dennis de Oliveira, describes how the author reaches the highest point of his intellectual work between his expressions of academia and activism, questioning how a book of questions—based on the Marxist historical materialism impounded by cases of a material reality that is unpalatable and inexplicable to contemporary humans – can pave the way for a new way of thinking (through the margins of the system), a solution to capitalist realism and its higher cultural expression, defined by the author as totalitarian culture.
