This article analyzes the coverage of Brazilian judo produced by the sports portal Globoesporte.com during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, focusing on the narrative construction of online sports journalism. The study is based on the hypothesis that journalistic coverage does not merely reproduce sporting events, but operates as a discursive mediation marked by emotion, nationalism, spectacularization, and digital interactivity. Through a qualitative and exploratory approach, the research examines texts published before, during, and after the matches, organized into three narrative moments: pre-match, live coverage, and post-match. The results indicate that the portal privileges emotional engagement, national belonging, construction of sports heroes, and audience participation, reinforcing journalism as a representational practice and symbolic mediator.
