Abstract

This study aims to analyze on the play Vocês que habitam o tempo by the french playwright Valère Novarina, the idea of character based on an understanding of the contemporary. For this, it is necessary, first, a discussion of what undestanded by contemporary drama, along with the survey about the development of a conception of character during the history of theater and drama based on the book by Robert Abirached. Finally, the research focuses on the play of Valère Novarina, already mentioned, dedicated to the study of fictional beings that its present on the play from the keys of understanding found in the own text and other writings of the playwright, settling, thus, the beginning of the discussion about the contemporary subject.
