This study explores the problem of creative processes that use abusive practices in the pursuit of artistic results. It highlights the contradictions between the recurring humanist discourse in contemporary theatrical rhetoric, which positions theater as a space for resistance and defense of human rights, and the modes of stage production that perpetuate violent conduct. For this, it considers the research of Anne-Marie Quigg, Robin Lakes, and Basilio Fernández-Morante, who investigate the prevalence of harassment and abuse in the arts. Its discussion questions the imperatives of efficacy over the human implications of creative processes, especially in pedagogical contexts. Finally, it problematizes the notion of “quality artistic training” based exclusively on technical and aesthetic effectiveness, emphasizing the importance of a non-negotiable ethical commitment in pedagogical processes in art.
