Abstract

The interview addresses the management at the head of Rádio USP, between 1985-1987, of Luiz Fernando Santoro, professor at the Department of Journalism and Publishing of the School of Communications and Arts of the University of São Paulo. Among his achievements are the transmission of live programming, the increase in musical variety and the opportunity for new radio genres and formats such as Programa de Indio (1985), presented by Ailton Krenak, elected Immortal of the Brazilian Academy of Letters, ABL, in 2024. Santoro also created an unprecedented Editorial Board for the station composed of Marilena Chauí, José Marques de Melo, Gaudêncio Torquato, José Arthur Gianotti, dean of the University of São Paulo at the time, Antônio Hélio Guerra Vieira, Flávio Fava de Moraes and Sylvio Ferraz de Mello. He also acted in favor of popular culture, offering more space for the program O Samba Pede Passagem, presented by Moisés da Rocha, an iconic figure of São Paulo samba.

    Professora universitária com passagens pela Universidade Mackenzie, Faculdade de Tecnologia de São Paulo – Fatec e Centro Universitário FMU. Atualmente está escrevendo sobre os 50 anos da Rádio USP em seu pós-doutorado no CJE/ECA/USP, mas a temática sobre rádios educativas nasceu em seu doutorado, quando estudou emissoras de Harvard e Columbia, nos Estados Unidos. Como jornalista, foi repórter e redatora da Rádio Capital e produtora do programa “8 em Ponto” e “Estação Cultura”, na Rádio Cultura FM/SP, da Fundação Padre Anchieta.
