Plays and Narratives: Analysis of the Journalistic Coverage of the Tocantins Women’s State Football Championship

The objective of this research was to analyze how the Globo Esporte Tocantins portal covered women’s football during the State Football Championship between 2020 and 2023, highlighting elements that promote the appreciation and visibility of the sport. Methodologically, the research adopted a qualitative, exploratory, and documentary approach, grounded in content analysis and informed by reflexive thematic analysis, based on journalistic articles about the Tocantins Women’s Soccer Championship between 2020 and 2023. The results indicated the analysis of 10 journalistic articles, organized into three categories that reveal limited coverage, the invisibilization of protagonists, and the lack of social and cultural recognition of women’s soccer. The study concluded that the media still operates insufficiently in promoting gender equity in sports, perpetuating historical inequalities and restricting the transformative cultural potential of women’s soccer
