The growing adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in journalism has intensified debates on transparency, editorial accountability, and technology governance. This study examines how Latin American and international news organizations institutionalize AI-related practices through public documents, institutional policies, and editorial guidelines. Using a qualitative approach based on documentary and content analysis, the study investigates documents published by Agência Pública, Aos Fatos, Agência Mural, Chequeado, La Silla Vacía, Reuters, and Associated Press. A five-dimensional analytical matrix was developed, encompassing Transparency, Human Oversight, Governance, Ethics, and Innovation. Findings indicate that transparency and human oversight are the most consolidated principles across organizations, while formal AI governance remains unevenly institutionalized. The study concludes that public AI policies function not only as accountability mechanisms but also as strategies for legitimizing technological innovation in contemporary journalism.
