Generative Art Creation Processes as Crossing Methodology: Transdisciplinary Collaborative Research with Guarani and Kaiowá Indigenous Communities

Abstract

In this paper, we will present artistic research, in particular generative art, as a viable way of conducting interdisciplinary and collaborative projects. In the context of the Ecologies of Thought project, part of the Guarani and Kaiowá Virtual Museum, we will argue that, from artistic creation, it is possible to establish crossings between different ways of thinking and producing knowledge, which leads to the review of ontological aspects of technology. Based on the concept of cosmotechnics and on the indigenous cosmological relationships between plants and sounds, we will discuss the production of generative art experiments in virtual reality, highlighting how artistic creation can develop an active research role and go beyond representations of one form of knowledge/existence towards another.
