Far from being a merely technical procedure, translation highlights the culture, training, sensitivity, and methodology of the translator. For this reason, this work proposes an initial experiment for a new translation of Homer’s Odyssey. Although we are currently experiencing a flourishing moment for Homer translations in Brazil, this new translation will prioritize clarity, conciseness, precision, and aesthetics, all considered with equal importance, and it will present concise explanatory notes that address Homeric poetics and its universe. The paper proposes a translation of Book 6, guided by this approach.
