The semiotic gathering of rhetorics

This article proposes to develop a revision of the notion of rhetoric elaborated by the Group µ from two perspectives: Charles S. Peirce’s semiotics and Louis Althusser’s notion of social practice. Both approaches are combined through a methodology called semiotic nonagon. The paper seeks to circumscribe the specific semiotic process performed by rhetoric and the different instances in which this process manifests itself. It is postulated that rhetoric consists of a specific semiotic process, which arises from an anomalous element and which is capable of generating a triple representation of this anomaly: a cognitive effect of estrangement, a reification of the enunciation and a description of the procedure that generates this reification.
