Abstract

We find in this paper the results of a study made with the aim of finding out how is employed the time of the public health nurses in the Health Centers of the School of Publich Health - University of São Paulo. Having in mind te limitations of a study of this kind it was possible to arrive at the following conclusion: The deficiency of nursing personnel in both services is avoiding a better use of their nurses time in the various aspects of the public health nursing program. For this reason some important parts of such program cannot be done. It was suggested as a tentative recomendation, more use of auxiliary personnel. In our specific situation they should be "visitadoras" with in - service preparation, to work under direct and constant supervision of a public health nurse.
