Uma tradução inédita de Anna Lia A. A. Prado: a Patologia, História da Guerra do Peloponeso (III.82-83)

Abstract

Anna Lia A. A. Prado (1925-2017) published the translation of Book I of Thucydides’ History of the Peloponnesian War, but she did not complete the project of translating the entire work. However, she left several passages of the text translated and revised, including “The Pathology,” which refers to the brief section on the effects of the civil war on society found in Book III (Thucydides, III.82-83). Given the distinctive quality of her translation, which captures the rigorous style of the Greek historian’s prose, I propose its publication, accompanied by a brief commentary.
