About bugs from 3.5 version of Open Journal System

27-02-2026

At the beginning of 2026, an update in Open Journal System was made to version 3.5. Alterjor Journal make publig the following bugs addressing the OJS 3.5:

  • An icon of locked content wrongly display next to PDF label althoug all contents remain in Open Access. How to solve: click on the "locked" PDF and the file will start downloading without  any requirement (the access remais open after all);
  • PDF files cannot display its contents directly. This addresses a bug affecting the plugin PDF.js on OJS 3.5 when a blank page is shown and the PDF content are not properly rendered. Temporary workaround: the PDF.js plugin was disabled to allow download and opening the PDF file in a third-party software or even in the internet browser. To open in browser, click on menu "File" and choose "Open file" then point the location where the file was downloaded. The file will open on your browser.
    By a specific way, only Firefox web browser opens automatically the downloaded PDF in a new tab.

When the corrected or patched version will be installed here, the embeded PDF viewer plugin will be re-actived as soon the patch to eliminate the locker icon shown on all Open Access files.
