Abstract

Based on Givón (1984) and Kato (1999), this paper analyses the verbal-subject concordance, which is a relevant subject to the understanding of the Brazilian Portuguese historical formation. It has as corpus fifteen records of the ‘Sociedade Protetora dos Desvalidos* assemblies autographed during the nineteenth century by a brazilian free negro, not fully literated, bom in Salvador-Bahia
