Cartography of care: health, gender and territorialities in the periphery of Posadas (Misiones, Argentina)

In this paper, we analyze the meanings and practices of care for the reproduction of life in contexts of impoverishment exacerbated in the post-pandemic period. We reflect on the potential of social mapping in the ethnographic approach, as a collaborative work modality for the reconstruction of health care networks. We revisit the experience of a community mapping carried out with the Coordinadora de Trabajadores Desocupados Aníbal Verón Nacional (Posadas-Misiones). Social cartography served as a tool for interpreting social dynamics among families, community spaces, and state agencies, particularly recovering the perspective of women. From the assembly of the drawing-narration, we reconstruct the grammar of interactions and reciprocities that configure the territoriality of care, where different scopes of the notions of health are brought into play.
