Abstract

A trajetória pessoal do professor João Baptista, doutor em Ciências Humanas pela USP e professor emérito do Departamento de Antropologia da FFLCH-USP, confunde-se com a história  institucional deste departamento e da Revista de Antropologia; esta que durante muito tempo figurou solitária no universo das publicações em antropologia e etnologia no Brasil, servindo  talvez como o principal canal de publicação dos autores, tanto antropólogos quanto sociólogos, de maior projeção no Brasil, além de ter sido órgão oficial da Associação Brasileira de  Antropologia e da Associação de Sociologia. Mas outra clara  expressão desse cruzamento entre pessoa e instituição, como se verá nesta entrevista, deixase flagrar na figura do pioneiro Egon Schaden, de quem João Baptista recebeu uma catedrática herança, no seio da qual se incluiu este projeto pessoal de Schaden, a Revista de Antropologia, que em 2003 completa
50 anos, razão da presente edição comemorativa e desta entrevista
