Os chamados pronomes pessoais e o ensino das línguas

Abstract

In a paper which has become classic in Transformational Grammar, Paul M. Postal presents this basic claim: The so - called personal pronouns are really articles, in fact types of definite articles. If we accept this thesis in Portuguese, we will have two principal consequences: 1) In our grammar lessons, the description of pronouns must change and also the actions resulting from it: classifications, terminology, labels. 2) The so-called substitution drills are in fact deletion drills.
