Abstract

Resolution No. 510 of the National Health Council (dated April 7, 2016), Chapter V, Article 24, establishes that the preliminary steps in the field do not need to be approved by an Ethics Committee, but must be based on the assessment of the feasibility of the realization of the research. However social researchers, often, are not aware of the existence of this stage, or its characteristics. The present article tries to exemplify the importance of this preliminary field stage for modeling problematic, axiomatic and methodological paths of a research project related to resistance of the members of the Association of Women of Vila Canoas and Pedra Bonita to oblique and stigmatized representations of those who enter the favela of Vila Canoas to make records of local residents in their personal or intimate spaces, without prior authorization, from partial or distorted angles - especially thanks to favela tourism. This article seeks to exemplify the validity of this step. In order to develop this article and confirmation of the validity of this preliminary stage, a visit to the community that served as the field for this research was reported. In addition, there were conversations with one of the local community leaders. The conversations were free of conjectures or records, since the idea was to ascertain the conditions necessary to carry out the research.
